Our Mission: To provide the highest level of fire protection, and prevention, rescue and emergency medical services affordable to the residents, visitors, and businesses of the Halfmoon Fire District #1 and the surrounding communities.
Our Commitment: As a fire department and as individual members of the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department, we pledge to:

•To treat the people whom we respond to help with the compassion they deserve in their time of need
•To provide an acceptable level of emergency care and fire protection to our callers.
Our Volunteers: Come from all walks of life in
the town: Town employees, electricians, customer
service reps, engineers, police officers, computer
specialists, retail clerks, retired persons, and even
bouncers.
The Benefits of Becoming a Member:
•Quality Training-You provide the
desire and we provide the training FREE. From local
to county training,
to NYS certified courses.
•Length of Service Award Program-
Rewards our volunteers’ years of service with pension-like payments upon reaching retirement age.
•NYS Income Tax Deduction- Starting in 2008, there is
a $200.00 per person tax deduction available for members
that have completed a full year of service, in 2007.
•Annual Installation Dinner- As a member of the Hillcrest
VFD you and your guest will enjoy this annual event that
celebrates the accomplishments of the members and the department. The dinner is also to celebrate the dedication
of our newly elected officers for the upcoming year.
•Fire Department Apparel- is made available to our
members at a nominal cost to the member. It shows the
community that you are a proud member of the fire
department and will be there when they need your help.
•Personal Protective Equipment- We provide our
firefighters with the latest technology in fire resistive
coats, pants, boots, gloves, hoods, etc. at no cost to
the individual firefighters.
